His Eminence Venerable Dukung Gyaltsen Tulku Rinpoche

the senior teacher of the Karma Kagyu lineage and the appointed representative of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa in Australia.

His Eminence Venerable Dukung Gyaltsen Tulku Rinpoche is a highly revered senior teacher of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. He received his Acharya (Master’s degree) in Buddhist philosophical studies from Karma Sri Nalanda University in Rumtek, Sikkim, India, one of the foremost monastic institutions of the Karma Kagyu tradition.

Rinpoche has been instrumental in the management, administration, and welfare of major monastic institutions in Sikkim, most notably the Rumtek Dharma Chakra Centre—the international seat of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje—as well as the Drupkhong Meditation Centre established by the Third Jamgön Kongtrul Rinpoche.

With the blessings of His Holiness the Gyalwang Karmapa, Rinpoche continues to reside in Rumtek, while serving as the official representative of His Holiness in Australia. He travels extensively between India, Australia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and New Zealand, offering teachings, leading retreats, and supporting Dharma activities across the region.

Rinpoche is fluent in Tibetan and Mandarin, and also teaches in English. He is known for his non-sectarian approach, sharing teachings from across the Tibetan Buddhist traditions. In addition to his scholarly depth, Rinpoche is deeply respected for his compassion and service, supporting monastic communities, retreat practitioners, and lay families.

He is also actively involved in humanitarian efforts, offering guidance, support to the elderly and underprivileged, and providing traditional Tibetan and Chinese medical assistance. Through his teachings and activities, Rinpoche continuously works to benefit sentient beings, inspire the cultivation of wisdom and compassion, and contribute to world peace.

Rinpoche currently serves as the Spiritual Director of Karma Kagyu Bodhi Foundation Australia and its affiliated centres, guiding its vision, activities, and development.

    Kadri Bodhi Monastery INC

    Kadri Bodhi Monastery (KDBM) is a Buddhist meditation centre dedicated to the flourishing of Buddhist teachings, practice, art, and culture in Australia. Run entirely by a team of dedicated volunteers, it serves as a spiritual sanctuary for the lay community to learn and deepen their understanding of Buddhism.

    KDBM hosts daily Tara morning and evening practices, organises pujas, and supports the invitation and hosting of visiting lamas from Sikkim.

  • Karma Kagyu Bodhi Foundation Australia

    Karma Kagyu Bodhi Foundation Australia Limited is a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the activities, teachings, and development of the Karma Kagyu lineage in Australia. Guided by His Eminence Venerable Dukung Gyaltsen Tulku Rinpoche, the Foundation serves as a platform to organise Dharma activities, support affiliated centres, and facilitate the growth of Buddhist teachings and community engagement.

    The Foundation plays a key role in coordinating major initiatives, including the Annual Kagyu Monlam (World Peace Prayer) and fundraising efforts for the Karma Kamtsang Development Project, supporting the expansion of practice facilities and educational programs.

  • Karma Yiwong Samten Ling

    Karma Yiwong Samten Ling (KYSL) is a retreat centre located on Wiradjuri Country in the Central West of New South Wales, Australia, approximately 30 minutes from Orange. It offers a tranquil and secluded environment for personal retreat and spiritual practice.

    The centre is home to the Stupa of Reconciliation, one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere, and holds a long-term vision to establish a traditional three-year retreat facility.

  • Karma Kamtsang Development Project

    The Karma Kamtsang Development Project is a future initiative focused on the expansion of a new gompa (main prayer hall) and supporting facilities to accommodate growing Dharma activities.

    The project envisions the development of dedicated classroom spaces to provide structured Tibetan language and Buddhist studies, supporting both learning and preservation of the lineage. It aims to create a sustainable environment for practice, education, and community engagement.
